Partner 2: Albentia Systems, S.A., (ALBENTIA), Spain

ALBENTIA is a leading provider of value-added Broadband Wireless Systems and Solutions. Headquartered in Madrid (Spain) and founded in 2004, ALBENTIA leverages its intellectual property and strong systems expertise to develop innovative WiMAX-based infrastructure and subscriber equipment for broadband access, cellular backhaul, VoIP, and IPTV applications.

ALBENTIA actively collaborates with the main operators and system integrators providing complete and cost-effective solutions to enhance their network capabilities. ALBENTIA is the first Spanish manufacturer of WiMAX base stations and subscriber stations, and is a member of the WiMAX Forum. The current product portfolio is based on the application of 802.16 technology to broadband wireless access, professional video transport and wireless cellular backhaul applications, where the fully in-house developed MAC layer has been optimised to support video, voice and synchronous services with stringent QoS requirements. ALBENTIA has actively participated with important nation-wide operators in several projects that have received funding from the Spanish Ministry of Industry. The E1VIRA project includes the development of a centralized management system for a wireless cellular point-multipoint backhaul system for GSM/UMTS base stations, in collaboration with Telefonica Moviles. The RASWER project, developed with Hispasat and the Polytechnic University of Madrid, studied the possible integration of DVB-RCS terminals with WiMAX base stations to provide triple play applications in rural areas.

In N4C ALBENTIA will work with WiMAX knowledge and bring industrial experience to the consortium.
