Status in brief:

• Luleå University of Technology leads the effort

• Small scale tests and local capacity building 2005-2007, was carried out with various funding (Sweden, Norway, Finland). Detailed technical data from Swedish effort available at www.snc.sapmi.net (enable replica experiments)

• Funding of Swedish and Norwegian joint efforts in N4C a FP7 project financed by European commission. N4C will last May 2008 - April 2011

• USA link based in University of Cincinnati presently funded through Polar Year

• PhD student and staff funding will enable cross Atlantic cooperation

• Study visit, seminars first step

• Input from the Arctic Information Communications Technology Assessment will be welcome
