Partner 12: Folly Consulting Ltd, (FOLLY), UK

Folly Consulting is an independent consultant currently primarily involved in pro-bono projects in the networking area of ICT. As part of this work Folly was a contributor to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standardization effort, and, in 2006, was selected as a member of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) that provides architectural oversight of the work of the IETF.

Folly  have a number of interests both in the current technical work and research areas of the work of the IETF and the associated Internet Research Task Force (IRTF).  As regards the current project proposal, my work on Internet routing research and the DTN research effort are most relevant to the task.  Folly is or has currently or have previously been involved with Differentiated Services (diffserv), IPv6 and the associated operations working group, and the Next Steps in Signalling effort, especially in relation to firewalls and NATs.

The owner of Folly, Mr. Elwyn Davies, have been a consultant and project member of the SNC project. He has worked with the authors of the PRoPHET routing protocol used in SNC.

In N4C FOLLY’s main tasks will refer to WP2 and the WP2 leadership. FOLLY will work with analysis, development and supervision also in WP3 and other WP’s. FOLLY will be responsible for the N4C ‘ambassador’ effort in standards and interoperability organizations.
