Partner 6: Norut AS, (NORUT), Norway

 

Norut IT is an independent institute for research in the fields of ICT, Earth Observation/Satellite

Remote Sensing and Social Sciences. Norut ICT’s main sources of income are research contracts

with the EU Framework Programmes, assignments in industry, government, the Research Council of Norway, European Space Agency (ESA) and the Norwegian Space Centre (Norsk Romsenter). In 2006 close to 25% of the turnover was generated by international contracts.

 

Noruts´ goal is to create practical results from research - results with a commercial potential. Noruts´ results have made NORUT attractive as a partner in international projects, and the last five years.

 

Norut have coordinated three EU 5FP projects and been partner in two. In addition Norut has also participated in several European INTERREG, SOCRATES and eTEN projects. In 2001 NORUT was appointed ESA Expert Support Laboratory by the European Space Agency.

 

Norut´s  ICT department does net-centric research in the fields of seamless networking, networked multimedia, mobile applications, and applications for broadband networks, database technology, peer-to-peer systems, WEB technology and distributed GIS systems. Norut has lately worked on technology for flexible and seamless communication over weakly connected networks in communications challenged areas, both working together with commercial companies and research partners.

 

In N4C Norut is Work Package Leader for 

·         Work Package 3: R&D pervasive applications
