Partner 11: Power Lake AB, (PLAB), Sweden

Power Lake AB (PLAB) is an international resource development company that offers advice to companies, organizations and groups on strategic issues. For ten years PLAB has undertaken strategic studies with technological and socio-economic implications. The fields of work PLAB take on are within ICT (applications, services and testing), and strategic development and energy economy (renewable energy sources and rational use of energy).
The major investigations and studies PLAB has been contracted for recently are targeting rural ICT issues and working with development of business plans. Example of work are
Rural ICT where PLAB was subcontracted to take part in a study on Rural ICT for the European Commission, DG Agriculture. PLAB´s main role was to collect, analyse and review ICT applications.
A-BARD, a 24 months Coordination Action (for FP6) on Analysing Broadband Access for Rural Development where PLABs role was work package leader for Case Studies and Workshops.
Rural Wins (IST-2001-39107), a Thematic Network to produce a roadmap for broadband in rural areas, where PLABs role was to make business models for broadband networks and rural applications.
Being subcontracted by the eTEN, funded consortiums REEMS and by the ECMADE for developing business plans and giving senior consultant support to the consortiums.
- PLAB has also worked with reviews and assessments work for the European Commission (DG Information Society, DG Energy and Transport and IEEA) and has acquired broad experience in mentoring EC projects.
In N4C PLAB´s main tasks will be development of test beds in two remote areas and work with development of N4C business-deployment plans for test beds and applications.
PLAB is WP leader for WP9 Dissemination.
